About this archive

What we do

christapike.org documents the case in four long-form chapters, a memorial to Colleen Slemmer, and a live coverage feed. It also advocates for the Standard, eight practical requirements for how Tennessee carries out executions.

Our position

We take no position on whether Tennessee should have the death penalty. We do take a position that if the state carries out executions in the public's name, it must do so lawfully, competently, transparently and humanely, and must be honest with the public and with victims' families when it fails.

News and advocacy are kept separate

The chapters and live updates are reporting: every statement is sourced, and we report facts that cut in every direction, including the crime itself and the views of Colleen Slemmer's family. Our advocacy lives on clearly labeled pages, The Standard and Take Action. An update is never shaded to serve the campaign.

Editorial standards

  • Every factual statement links to published reporting or a court record.
  • Updates are posted only after confirmation by at least one credible outlet or official filing.
  • We center the victim's dignity and avoid graphic detail beyond what is needed to understand the case.
  • Images are labeled as illustrations. We do not publish crime scene or autopsy images.
  • Advertising and sponsorship are separate from editorial decisions and always labeled.
